Ron Howard is one of those people who has lived a life. From his days in front of the camera on Happy Days to director to documentarian, Howard has pretty much done everything there can be done in Hollywood.
He shows no signs of showing down. While he has one documentary (Pavarotti) soon to be released, he has another doc and film in the pipeline, plus all his television projects (including a Willow series for Disney+).
His latest project in development? An animated musical.
Talking with Entertainment Weekly, Howard did not reveal much about the project.
“That’s just in the very early stages. I can’t talk about it beyond [that]; I can’t give a title to it – but I’m really excited.”
Howard also took a moment to reflect on his varied career, which is really impressive and going strong as ever.
“At this point in my life, my kids are grown, I’ve got a lot of creative energy to really explore and experiment. I always want to entertain; I always want to try to make it be a wise investment for whoever participates, but I do want to keep exploring and taking certain kinds of risks myself. Given all the platforms and all the outlets, there are more ways than ever to pursue stories that I care about and one of them is the animated musical that I really hope I get to make.”
Well we’ll certainly keep an eye out for this mystery project.
Pavarotti will be released June 7th.
