At the end of Avengers: Endgame all of us came out of it with the assumption that the supposed Black Widow film would definitely be a prequel because well…she’s dead.
It’s definitely a death that felt final, sacrificing herself to obtain the Soul Stone.
That being said we also all knew about a Black Widow film finally in the works which brings us to the conclusion: a prequel.
Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, briefly mentioned the possible Black Widow film and what it could potentially be.
“There’s a method to the madness. There’s always a method and doing things in an unexpected way is something we find fun,” Feige explained. “There are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before.”
Feige compared the not-yet-confirmed-but-kind-of-confirmed film to the likes of Better Call Saul for what they are looking for in a prequel. It’s something that can stand on its own while still providing information you didn’t know before.
Knowing what we currently know about the Black Widow/Natasha Romanov story hers is the ideal candidate for something like this.
Here’s to hoping we get confirmation of the Black Widow film at San Diego Comic-Con this year as Marvel has revealed it will return to Hall H not appearing last year.
While we wait for SDCC for answers Spider-Man: Far From Home will be out on July 2nd to give us our Marvel fix.
