Jessica Jones will be back for season three in just over a week. While we’ll learn why the titular character is a “fraud”, we’re also worried about the relationship between Jessica (Krysten Ritter) and Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor).
Season two saw the adopted sisters very estranged. Trish killed Jessica’s mother, who she recently reconnected with, and underwent a very, very dangerous medical procedure to give herself superpowers so she could be “special” like Jessica. Needless to say, things are a bit strained between the pair.
The bell cannot be unrung and we saw a glimpse of Trish’s powers in the season two closing. It looks like they’re building a reveal of her in the Hellcat costume. In comics, Patricia “Patsy” Walker is a costumed vigilante known as Hellcat, who sports a bright blue and yellow costume complete with cowl. (You should also check out the excellent Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat series.)
In a featurette showing Krysten Ritter directing an episode of Jessica Jones, we see Trish training and donning an all black costume. The Netflix-Marvel collabs tend to build toward a costume reveal, so we’ll see how that goes.
Also in the featurette, Ritter and Taylor talk about Trish’s active role in the episode.
“We’re following the point of view of Trish. So I get to really delve deeper into her character and her motivation,” Ritter said.
Taylor was excited to have a director who understood delving deep into a superhero’s psychology, “I just feel, like, crazy crazy lucky that she’s the person directing this ep. No other director knows what it’s like to originate a super hero character.”
Jessica Jones season three will be released June 14th on Netflix.
