Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes just filled out some key members of the family.
The project is based off the Enola Holmes series by Nancy Springer. The series follows the much younger sister of Mycroft and Sherlock Holmes, who is a brilliant detective in her own right. It has six books, starting with The Case of the Missing Marquess released in 2006. The series was nominated for Edgar Awards in 2007 and 2010.
Brown, best known for her role as Eleven/Jane in Stranger Things, will star as the title character.
Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve) will direct the feature from a script written by Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials). It will come from Legendary Entertainment.
Cavill, best known for playing Superman, joins a list of actors who have played Sherlock in recent years. Most famously Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr, Sir Ian McKellen, and Jonny Lee Miller have all put their spin on the character.
In the series, Enola’s mother mysteriously disappears leaving her in the care of her brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock Holmes (already a famous detective). When they reveal plans to send her to boarding school, Enola runs away and lives a double life while solving cases on her own terms.
The film currently does not have a release date scheduled.
