Girls growing up in the 90s were all about the Spice Girls. Don’t front. You had your favorite and who you identified with on a spiritual level.

And “Wannabe” is an amazing song. Don’t even deny that it’s not in a karaoke repertoire of either you or someone you know.

One of the best parts of the Spice Girls was the movie. Spice World was weird, wonderfully surreal, and remains pretty hilarious over 20 years on. Even so, despite some reunions and the like, we weren’t expecting any projects to emerge with the group.

Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) and Victoria Beckham (Posh) have moved on to new projects and the like.

Except it looks like they are getting back together to make a new movie! It’s going to be animated.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Animation announced an animated Spice Girls movie with all the of the original members returning. The film will see Simon Fuller producing and Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith writing the screenplay. The idea for the film came from the Spice Girls who are “largely involved” in the process.

Yes, it will feature classic and new songs from the group. Let’s hope that it’s as wonderfully weird as Spice World was.

The film is an eyeing a 2020 release date. So get ready to get your platform shoes and demanding that people tell you what they want, want they really, really want.
