One thing that Arrowverse fans love is when former DC heroes stop by in new roles, like John Wesley Shipp on The Flash or Erica Durance (Smallville) on Supergirl.
One actor that fans have been hoping to see appear in the Arrowverse is Tom Welling. It makes sense. Back during the days of the WB and the early days of the CW, Smallville was a huge show. It ran for 10 seasons and could be considered one of the defining shows of the modern superhero genre. Welling, as its Clark Kent, was the star of it.
The man himself has been a little less excited about returning to the superhero genre, though he hasn’t eschewed shows based on comics altogether. He was in season three of Lucifer, which is based on a DC Comics property.
It turns out there is one hero that he would be interested in playing: Batman.
Talking with former Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast Inside of You, Welling shared that he wouldn’t mind playing the Dark Knight. “Yeah, I do like Batman and I think there is some room to grow there. And, yeah, it would be different.”
Given that, in the fall, Batwoman will debut on the CW, it’s the perfect time to add some Bruce Wayne into the mix. After all, we never thought that Superman would show up on Supergirl and he did. Why can’t Batman come on Arrow?
Plus, it would be interesting to see what Welling could bring to the role after playing Clark Kent for so long.
Batwoman will premiere on Sunday, October 6th at 8/7c on the CW. Arrow will debut its final season on Tuesday, October 15th at 9/8c.
