Taron Egerton spent a while with Entertainment Weekly on a Twitter Q & A on Tuesday, talking about the Elton John biopic, Rocketman, in which Egerton takes the lead role.
During the session, EW reports, Taran tackled everything from his favourite costumes to working with co-star Richard Madden.
During the tweet Q & A, a fan asked what was Taron’s favourite song that didn’t make the final cut of the film. That song? He would have liked “Someone Saved My Life Tonight”.

Egerton said that “Someone Saved My Life Tonight”, from the 1975 album Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy, is very autobiographical, “It kind of encapsulates a lot of what happens in the movie, so I think that would’ve been cool in the film but you know you can’t have everything.”
Egerton has been receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of Elton. Yes, it really is him singing in the film.
In an interview with Classic FM earlier this month, Egerton said “I’m Welsh, and we have a fairly rich heritage of singing.” He revealed he’s been singing solo since he was 17, and took singing lessons to prepare for the role. He also revealed that “It’s been the greatest joy of my professional life making this film.”
And best of all, according to the film’s music producer Giles Martin, Elton John himself said: “I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron”.
Rocketman opens in the US on Friday, May 31st.
