Here’s Who Katherine Langford Was Supposed To Play In Avengers: Endgame

After the dust of Avengers: Endgame settled, fans talked about a great many things. One topic, in particular, was about Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why). It was announced months ago that she had a role in the film, but she never appeared.

People did speculate over who she could be: an older Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop being the top two contenders.

It turns out the answer is neither.

Talking with MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that Langford was cast as an adult version of Morgan Stark. Apparently, it was meant to be a parallel to a similar scene that Thanos (Josh Brolin) had with the child version of Gamora in Infinity War.

Joe Russo described the cut scene, “There was an idea that Tony was going to go into the metaphysical way station that Thanos goes in when he snapped his fingers, and there was going to be a future version of his daughter in that way station. We showed it to a test audience and it was really confusing for them.”

Anthony added, “We didn’t feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter. It wasn’t ringing to us. It wasn’t resonating to us on an emotional level is why we moved away from it.”

Seeing the adult version of Morgan would, apparently, give Tony (Robert Downey Jr) the peace he needed to move on.

“His future daughter forgave him and gave him peace to go. The idea felt resonate, but it just was too many ideas in an overcomplicated movie,” Joe summarized.

Honestly? Now I’m pretty curious about the cut scene. Hopefully, we’ll see it sometime when the film is released for home viewing.

Avengers: Endgame is currently in theatres.
