De-aging technology has come a very long way. If seeing Samuel L Jackson as young Nick Fury in Captain Marvel drop your jaw, then prepare yourself to see young Will Smith in Gemini Man.

Directed by Ang Lee (Life of Pi), the film released its first trailer today. It promises a deeply immersive and captivating experience. Though should we expect anything less of Lee?

In the trailer, we meet an aging assassin (Smith) as he fights against an unknown enemy who seems to be able to predict his everything move. The enemy? A clone of himself (also played by Smith), who was created by the same agency. Why? Because older Smith is just that good. Now the agency wants the clone to kill the man he was created from.

At one point, Smith yells at his clone, “Twenty-five years ago, they made you from me! They chose me because there’s never been anybody like me. We have to end this right now!”

Lee, who always push the boundaries of technology in filmmaking, used a lot of complex techniques in order to de-age Smith by almost 30 years.

In statement, Lee said, “Thanks to incredible new digital technology, not only can we finally see both younger and older Will Smith embodied together on screen, but we can also experience the story in a deeply immersive way.”

The film also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong.

Check out the trailer below.

Gemini Man will be released on October 11th.
