Get ready Deep Space Nine fans. The new documentary What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine will be in theaters across the U.S. only on May 13th. Directors Ira Steven Behr and David Zappone provide a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this beloved component of the Star Trek franchise including interviews with the cast and creators.
What We Left Behind also features newly remastered HD footage of the original TV series and follows the writers as they develop a brand new episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which would function as the season eight premiere if the show were to return.
Following the documentary, viewers will see a taped roundtable discussion with the film’s directors and producers about the making of What We Left Behind, the enduring Star Trek fandom, and why Deep Space Nine remains a favorite among fans.
“When Dave Zappone asked me if I wanted to make a documentary about Deep Space Nine, my first reaction was, ‘What is there left to say about Deep Space Nine?’ Well, William Faulkner once wrote, ‘The past is never dead. It’s not even past.’ The cast, crew and fans have a lot to say about Deep Space Nine. What We Left Behind is their story; it’s my story, too. Turns out William Faulkner was a very wise man,” said Behr.
Tickets will be available beginning Friday, April 12 at www.FathomEvents.com and participating theater box offices. But choose where you purchase tickets wisely. Fathom attendees will receive an exclusive double-sided poster with the theatrical poster art for What We Left Behind on one side, and an original illustration from the film on the other. (Quantities limited, while supplies last.)
“A point of pride for Fathom Events is our ability to give fans cinema experiences that enhance their understanding and enjoyment of the original programming they love,” said Fathom Events CEO, Ray Nutt. “What We Left Behind will take Trekkers’ passion for the series one step further.”
What We Left Behind: Star Trek Deep Space Nine, will show in theaters only on May 13th at 7pm local time.
