The Star Wars fandom is having the best week of their lives thanks to the Star Wars Celebration that is currently happening this week in Chicago. After keeping fans in the dark about the newest film, a teaser trailer and the official title of the last film in the Saga has been released.
The trailer was shown to fans during the panel for the film. Director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy made the announcement on Friday. Film Stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, and newcomer Naomi Ackie were also on hand to share in the announcement.
The teaser trailer is quite the feast for fans as there is a little bit of everything in it, which is amazing given its brevity. Rey is shown in action in the desert with Luke’s voice speaking to her “We’ve passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.”
The teaser trailer also provided shots of Kylo Ren fighting his way through a forest, a first look at Lando and Chewbacca back in action as they pilot the Millennium Falcon, Finn, Poe and C3PO flying through the desert, and last but not least previously unused footage of the late Carrie Fisher, featuring quite the emotional hug with Rey.
The biggest wow factor in the trailer is the ending reveal. It shows Rey and crew looking at what looks to be Death Star wreckage, and closes with an evil laugh that sounds a lot like Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
