Official Synopsis For Agents Of SHIELD’s Season 6 Premiere Released

It’s been a year since Agents of SHIELD was last on but the wait is nearly over. In just a couple of weeks, season six will premiere and, agents, prepare yourselves.

When we last left our team, Phil Coulson was spending his final days on an island paradise with Melinda May while everyone else flew off to find Fitz, who was frozen and floating out in space somewhere. The premiere, “Missing Pieces”, jumps ahead a year and a lot has changed. Just check out the official synopsis from ABC: “Scattered across the galaxy, the team works to find their footing in the wake of losing Coulson in the spectacular Season 6 premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

As we know from teasers and press leading up to the premiere, Coulson isn’t entirely gone. For starters, Clark Gregg directed “Missing Pieces”. More significantly, the actor is back on the show playing a completely new role as Sarge, according to IMDB. Sarge is a darker character than Coulson and someone who will be fighting against everyone that Coulson cared for.

During interviews at WonderCon 2019, executive producer Jed Whedon said that when planning for season six, they “firmly believe that any season would have to have him in it.” For Gregg, it was a brand new experience to build a new character after playing Coulson for 11 years. “It was mysterious and unsettling and this is very, very different type of person,” he said. “At the same time, there was something really thrilling about being scared again. Not sure what to do, not sure what felt right. This guy is in an antagonistic relationship with all of the people that Coulson held most dear. So that created some dramatic fireworks.”

Agents of SHIELD season six premieres May 10th at 9/8cl. If you just can’t wait that long, we already have some spoilers for the premiere episode.
