Game Of Thrones Teases Some Heavy “Aftermath” In New Teaser

It’s five chilling words.

Game of Thrones, Season Finale.

Those of us who have invested 8 long years of our life in the acclaimed HBO Series are headed for the final wrap up that even the books haven’t covered.

Who will survive? Will anyone survive?   Long time fans have learnt by now not to hold out hope of any of their favourites making it through a season. But surely after all they have been through they cannot just fall to the greatest enemy of all The Seven Kingdoms, the White Walkers?

HBO has released a series of teaser trailers ahead of the April 14th release of the final six episode season.

The first two give us nothing new – all repackaged footage from the previous GOT trailer with some new dialogue from major players Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Jamie Lannister and Samwell Tarly.

Their phrases over the footage are a harbinger of what is to come. Samwell saying “Think back to where we started” and Jamie’s “This goes beyond loyalty, this is about survival.”

The latest spot, called Aftermath does the same, while cleverly giving nothing new away.  We can only guess what has happened.  It doesn’t look good.

We open on the ruins of Winterfell, deep in snow and silence, full of death apart from the cawing of the ravens.  It looks as if there were no survivors.  Items lay strewn across the battlefield.   Important items – Jon Snow’s Valyrian sword Longclaw, Tyrion’s Hand of the Queen pin, Jaime’s golden hand, and Bran Stark’s wheelchair; things they would not give up willingly.   Behind these images is Ramin Djawadi’s ominous score.

As we wait to see if the White Walkers arrive and possibly claim all of the lands, or if there are more clever plans afoot, to see who lands on the Iron Throne… can watch the teaser trailer below.

Game of Thrones returns to our screens on HBO for its final season on Sunday, April 14th.
