Dreamer Steps Up To The Plate In David Harewood Directed Episode Of Supergirl

Supergirl returns in a little over a week for its final push to its season four finale. Things are definitely in dire straits for Kara (Melissa Benoist) and company. With the Red Daughter (Benoist) attacking the White House dressed as Supergirl and pinning the crime on her, things are getting a little tense.

Who knows what will come in the upcoming episode? Well, we have an idea about episode 19, which will be titled “American Dreamer”. The episode will directed by longtime Supergirl actor David Harewood, who plays J’onn J’onzz.

For those fans who follow the cast on social media, this isn’t a huge surprise. Harewood is very excited about the episode and took a lot of behind-the-scenes pictures to prove it.

In the released synopsis for “American Dreamer”, we see fan fave character Nia Nal (Nicole Maines) take center stage. We’re hoping she kicks all the ass as well.

DAVID HAREWOOD DIRECTS — As Kara (Melissa Benoist) doggedly works as a reporter to clear Supergirl’s name, Dreamer (Nicole Maines) picks up the slack as National City’s protector, which leads to a showdown with Ben Lockwood (Sam Witwer). James (Mehcad Brooks) takes drastic measures to relieve his PTSD. David Harewood directed the episode with story by Dana Horgan and teleplay by Daniel Beaty & Jess Kardos.

While it sounds like poor Kara can’t catch a break, Nia gets a chance to shine in her heroics. It will be interesting to see how her training will factor into this. Plus, let’s be real, we would love to see Nia kick Lockwood’s over-privileged butt.

It also sounds like James is still struggling. It will be interesting to see where the PTSD storyline takes him. To be real, this is the most interesting story that the staff has given Brooks to do in years. It also doesn’t feel rushed like the Guardian reveal did in season two.

“American Dreamer” airs on Sunday, April 28th at 8/7c on the CW. Supergirl returns on Sunday, April 21st, same time and network.
