It looks like Marvel is eyeing a favourite and Hellboy to join one of its future film projects.

According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) and David Harbour (Hellboy) have entered talks to join the solo Black Widow film.

Weisz is currently in talks for an undisclosed role that is described as “key”. Given Marvel’s secrecy that’s all we’re getting. The talks are currently in their early stages. Variety says that there is a strong interest from both sides so it looks like they will head favorably.

Weisz is coming off her critically acclaimed performance in The Favourite, which scored her a BAFTA and Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination. She essentially has her pick of projects right now.

Harbour, who is also known for his role on Stranger Things, has officially joined the project. It makes him the second new addition to the cast after rising star Florence Pugh. Scarlett Johansson, of course, will reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff for the feature film.

Nothing has been revealed at this time about Harbour’s character. Though we’re going to assume that he won’t be giant, red, and have horns like he does in the upcoming Hellboy reboot (released on April 12th).

Not much is known about the plot of the solo Black Widow film, which has long been in development. It’s described as an “internationally set story” and will probably focus on spy stuff rather than flashy heroics.

Director Cate Shortland, best known for 2012’s Lore, will helm the project with a script from Jac Schaeffer.

There’s currently no release date.

You can see Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame, which will be released on April 26th.
