The second trailer for Shazam was released on Monday (March 4th).
It certainly looks like that our hopes for the DCEU will continue to rise with this new offering. Set to Eminem’s “My Name Is”, the trailer works to bring the comedy and the action. It certainly succeeds in both.
It also shows a range for director David F. Sandberg, who was previously known mostly as a horror director.
The film follows Billy Batson (Asher Angel), a teenage foster kid who acquires supernatural powers that allows him to turn into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi). With the help of his new foster brother, Freddie Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer), Batson gets a handle on his abilities, causes some mischief, and battles Doctor Sivana (Mark Strong).
There are some fun shout-outs to other DC superheroes. Billy as Shazam tries to leap a tall building in a singe bound ala Superman, but fails epically. There’s also a talking Batman doll, because of course there is a talking Batman doll. There is also a really fun scene where Billy and Freddie argue about superhero names. Apparently Captain Sparkle Fingers was on the table at one point.
Check out the trailer below, get ready to definitely crack a smile.
