Noah Centineo may have won legions of fans with his recent work on teen romcoms like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, but this heartthrob may be going down a more fantastical road.
According to The Wrap, Centineo has entered talks to play He-Man in the Sony and Mattel’s The Masters of the Universe movie. The film will be based on the classic 80s toys, which spawned a fondly remembered cartoon series. Fans of more recent animation are probably more familiar with She-Ra, whose Netflix reboot series has earned rave reviews.
For those not familiar with the land of Eternia, let’s give you a rundown. If Centineo’s talks go well and he lands the role, then he will be playing a dual role: Prince Adam and He-Man. Prince Adam of Eternia turns into He-Man with help of a magical sword and calling out “For the power of Grayskull!” It turns Adam into the warrior known as He-Man with these fabulous powers, he fights Skeletor and his forces with some help from his friends.
There was a 1987 film, which starred Dolph Lundgren and pre-Friends Courtney Cox. It’s a camp classic, especially if you wanna see Lundgren, in minimal clothing, driving around in a pink Cadillac.
A new Masters of the Universe movie has been in the works for years. Originally McG was set to direct with a script from David S. Goyer. Now Adam and Aaron Nee will direct the film and working on a script with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
There’s currently no release date for the project.
