The CW may not have extended Lucy Hale’s Life Sentence to a second season, but they are not done with the former Pretty Little Liars star quite yet.
Lucy Hale has been cast in the Riverdale spin-off, Katy Keene. She will play the titular character in the show, which received a pilot order from the CW earlier this year.
The spin-off will follow classic Archie Comics characters as they follow their dreams in New York City, whether it is on Broadway, in the recording studio, or on the runway. The show is described as a “musical dramedy” that will take place post-Riverdale.
Katy is described as “a twentysomething New Yorker who aspires to be a fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city.”
Riverdale‘s Ashleigh Murray will make the jump to Katy Keene if the show is picked up to series as Josie McCoy.
The spin-off comes from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater as executive producers. Aguirre-Sacasa also created Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He also previously worked on Glee and wrote the comic crossover between the show and Archie.
Riverdale airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on the CW. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina returns with “Part 2” on April 5th. If Katy Keene is picked up, then it will air during the 2019-2020 season.
