It’s Overachievers Gone Wild In The First Trailer For Olivia Wilde’s Directorial Debut Booksmart

The first trailer for Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart has been released.

In it, we see two chronic overachievers Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein) as they graduate from high school. They have top grades and excellent college prospects, but their high school social lives have been a bit lacking. Now that the pair have graduated from high school, they are ready to cram in one wild night to make up for four years lost to studying.

And oh, it gets pretty wild.

While the two have a fanny pack with chapstick and mace (necessary), the duo get involved in increasingly high risk activities. They commandeer a pizza delivery car in ski masks. Ultimately, it looks like they’re going to get arrested.

Doesn’t it always end up like that?

Booksmart comes from a script written by Katie Silberman with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay executive producing the film. It also stars Jason Sudeikis, Billie Lourd, Will Forte, Noah Galvin, and Lisa Kudrow.

You can watch the trailer below.

The film opened at 2019’s SXSW over the weekend. It will be released nationwide in the US on May 24th.
