Enchanted was way ahead of the trend of Disney poking fun at itself and its conventions.
Following the story of Disney character brought to real world New York Giselle (Amy Adams), the film deals with dreams vs reality, optimism vs pessimism, and women being their own heroes. It was a lot of fun with a great romance and a better message.
Plus the soundtrack was pretty awesome too.
Why wouldn’t it be? Disney mainstay Alan Menken did the songs (with Stephen Schwartz) and the score for the film, which is unsurprising.
The film itself came out in 2007. In the decade plus since its release, fans have been hoping for a sequel to the movie. There has been traction on and off for years with confirmation in 2018 that Menken and Schwartz would return to write the songs for the sequel.
Talking with Den of Geek, Menken reiterated that Enchanted 2 is still in development over at Disney to our endless and eternal joy.
”Yes, we’re doing Enchanted 2. We’ve had meetings. Five films I have right now that are waiting for a greenlight. They’re all standing at the light right now, and at some point they’re going to go ‘greenlight!’”
Meetings are a good step as is Menken working on it, but we just want that greenlight to happen.
