Another Marvel TV property is set to take its bow soon. After two spectacular seasons, it was announced on Monday that FX’s Legion’s upcoming third season will be its last. The network revealed the news about the comic book drama’s fate after this third season early in the day during the TCA winter press tour.
“Noah Hawley had always considered Legion to be a three-season show,” FX CEO John Landgraf said, “and he has confirmed that he’s going to stick with his plan. This will be the final season.” Landgraf also revealed that season three of Legion will take its bow in June.
The second season of Legion ended in quite a twist with David Haller, played by Dan Stevens, embracing his powers and ditching his love-interest Syd and the rest of the Summerland crew to run off with Lenny. For those who may not be familiar with the series, David has spent most of his life in mental institutions thinking he has an illness but it turns out to be so much more than that.
Joining Stevens in the Legion cast are Rachel Keller as Syd, Aubrey Plaza as Lenny, and Jean Smart as Melanie Bird.
With Legion coming to an end, it does appear that Marvel is moving away from the television platform, at least for now, which is kind of disheartening. Giving fans only two seasons of this incredible show does seem like a let down but here’s hoping that viewers and fans of this show will get a satisfying ending.
