Hulu And Marvel Team-Up For Four Adult Animated Series

Marvel has conquered the film industry. While DC may have the regular TV airings, Marvel did make a good showing of grabbing the streaming audience’s attention.

Until Netflix cancelled all its Marvel shows.

Sigh.

The Marvel shows that seem to remain safe are those that are on Hulu, which is just Runaways. Not for long, however, as Marvel and Hulu have teamed up for four animated series geared toward adults.

The four series will be M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler, and Howard the Duck. These four shows will then culminate in a crossover called Marvel’s The Offenders. We think Marvel may be a bit salty over those Netflix cancellations.

Most of these characters are definitely a little less well-known. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ve seen the human and AI version of Armin Zola (Toby Jones), M.O.D.O.K’s real name. Howard the Duck made a celebrated return to film in the post-credits for Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s probably unlikely that Jones will voice M.O.D.O.K. in his own series.

Seth Green? He should definitely voice Howard though. C’mon Seth and Marvel, make it happen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the four series will be divided between comedy and drama.

M.O.D.O.K. will focus on the villainous character as he struggles “to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family”. The show will be produced and written by Patton Oswalt along with Jordan Blum and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb.

Hit-Monkey will focus on a “story of a wronged Japanese snow monkey who is mentored by the ghost of an American assassin and uses his skills to cut a wide swath of revenge through the Tokyo underworld.”

The Tigra & Dazzler Show follows “two title characters, who are “woke superheroes” (one of whom is a cat person, while the other is a light-powered pop singer) as they try to break big in Los Angeles.” The show will be produced and written by Chelsea Handler joined by Loeb and Erica Rivinoja.

Howard the Duck focuses on the travails of the talking duck character first created by Steve Gerber as a play on a classic “funny animal” character trapped in a world he never made. With the help of his “gal pal” Beverly, Howard hopes to return home before he can be cooked by the evil Dr. Bong.” Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will take the helm of the show.

This will all lead to The Offenders when the heroes of each series will team-up in order “save the world and certain parts of the universe.”

Currently there is no window of release for these shows.
