It looks like the wait for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is almost over.
The show is slated to return much sooner than previously announced. The hit series showed fans a bit of love recently by sharing a video that highlights some of the show’s most romantic moments (THAT PHILINDA KISS THOUGH) and reveals an earlier-than-expected Season 6 premiere date.
When ABC renewed the series last year, Season 6 was announced as not arriving until Summer 2019. The highlights video, however, teases a much earlier date for the upcoming season, with a May premiere date.
As far as what is currently known, it has been revealed Season 6 picks up one year after the team dropped a terminal Coulson off in Tahiti. Given the premiere date, it may appear that the show’s return could be tied into the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, which is hitting theaters on April 26.
Fans were stunned last year with the revelation of Coulson’s impending death and the move of the series to the summertime so the sooner than expected premiere date is more than welcomed. The agents have a lot of work to do as the last mission the team had on their books was to find the cryo-genetically frozen Fitz somewhere in space.
