Venom is a weirdly wonderful little gem of a movie. Is it high art? No. Tom Hardy has a weird accent. Jenny Slate’s not pronouncing symbiote right. The real romance of the movie is between Eddie Brock (Hardy) and Venom (also Hardy) as they learn to love each other. Heck, Brock gets Venom back through a big damn kiss when Venom was possessing Eddie’s ex-girlfriend, Anne (Michelle Williams).
It’s definitely worth a watch for how fun it was.
Fans have been hoping for a sequel. According to Variety, we’re getting one.
A Venom sequel is officially in the works at Sony with Kelly Marcel, one of the screenwriters from the first movie, returning to pen the sequel’s script. Tom Hardy is attached to return to the sequel, which was teased in a post-credit scene. In it, Brock meets serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who becomes Carnage in comics.
The focus of the sequel is currently unknown, but we can guess we’ll be seeing Carnage at least. Michelle Williams is also tapped for the sequel as well. Currently, there is no director.
Fans believe that the film will be the untitled Marvel October 2020 release. Given the short time-frame, we’ll certainly see.
