Attention Murderinos! TNT is teaming up with My Favorite Murder for an exclusive live episode on January 15th at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. Podcast hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark will explore one of Hollywood’s most notorious murders, the Black Dahlia, before a screening of the new TNT limited series, I Am the Night.
This is the first time the podcast has partnered with a TV network in support of an upcoming drama series. I Am the Night is right up any Murderino’s alley. Inspired by true events, the six-episode limited series tells the story of Fauna Hodel, a teenage girl who was given away at birth and grows up outside of Reno, Nevada. One day, she discovers something that inspires her to uncover more about her unknown past. Along the way, she meets a reporter still haunted by an old case. Together they follow a trail that leads them to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel, a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime.
I Am the Night is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Chris Pine, Sam Sheridan, India Eisley, and Jefferson Mays. Check out the trailer below.
A live episode on January 15th, the anniversary of the Black Dahlia’s death, and in the same city where she was killed is exciting enough for My Favorite Murder fans. But Kilgariff and Hardstark will also get to interview Mays about his experience playing Dr. Hodel.
“What more could we want? We get to discuss the Black Dahlia, our audience gets a sneak peek at the first episode of I Am The Night and we get to talk to Jefferson Mays about playing Dr. Hodel. It’s a true crime trifecta. We can’t wait!” said Kilgariff and Hardstark.
If you’re looking for more about Hodel and the Black Dahlia, upcoming podcast, Root of Evil: The True Story of the Hodel Family and the Black Dahlia, will premiere February 13th on Apple Podcasts and all major platforms. The eight-part podcast documentary series tells the Hodel family’s story in their own words for the first time. Yvette Gentile and Rasha Pecoraro, daughters of Fauna Hodel, host the podcast series in first-person, telling family’s dark history with a story that spans generations, including their connection to the infamous Black Dahlia murder.
The special live episode of My Favorite Murder will be available leading up to the premiere of I Am the Night, which is set for January 28th at 9pm on TNT.
