There is rarely a perfect time to fall in love with someone. In the upcoming film Five Feet Apart, it’s definitely not the best time for Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) and Will (Cole Sprouse) to do so.
Yet, the pair, who are both battling cystic fibrosis and waiting for lung transplants, are definitely falling in love. Their burgeoning relationship, however, comes with a major caveat. In order to prevent infection, the pair have to stay five feet apart at all times.
Otherwise, it could screw up their chances for transplant.
As nurse Barb (Kimberly Herbert Gregory) puts it to Stella, “Catch his infection and you can kiss your lungs goodbye.”
The film is definitely in the vein of other movies like The Fault In Our Stars. Even so, Sprouse and Richardson seem to have good chemistry together in the trailer. There is genuine sweet moments paired with tense moments, like Stella watching Will in critical condition through glass.
The film is based on a book from Rachel Lippincott.
Check out the trailer below to see if it’s your cup of tea.
Five Feet Apart hits theatres March 1st. Cole Sprouse also stars in Riverdale, which airs Wednesdays at 8/9c on the CW.
