Wonder Woman 1984 won’t be hitting theatres until Summer 2020. Even with it being forever away, we’re still excited to see what will happen in the continuing adventures of Diana Prince (Gal Gadot).
One question we have, however, is how Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is running around in 1984 when we saw him die in 1918. While Patty Jenkins assured us that the answer will “make sense“, we still have no clue what that answer is.
Of course, while we believed that the 2017 film was the last time we would see the character, Chris Pine thinks it will be the 2020 one. He doesn’t believe he’ll be returning for a hypothetical third film.
Talking with Entertainment Tonight, the actor had this to say on any future returns in the role.
“I think Steve’s done. I think Steve’s done his bit. I wish them all the luck in the world.”
Maybe the third film can explore Diana’s canonical bisexuality and give her a girlfriend?
Jenkins has assured fans that she’s willing to return for a third film. She wants to complete the trilogy and already has a plan for it to come to a satisfying end.
Though right now? We don’t know if a third film will be in the works. Given how popular the 2017 film was, we’re hoping for a repeat in 2020.
Wonder Woman 1984 will be in theatres on June 5th, 2020.
