It has been more than a year now since season two of The Crown premiered on Netflix. Since then, fans eagerly waited for an announcement when the popular Netflix original would return to the streaming site with its third season.
However, as the cast of the first two seasons has been swapped entirely, we knew it was going to take a while until we’ve got first teasers and eventually a third season.
The new cast officially started to shoot in the summer and shortly after, Netflix released first images of the four lead characters: Queen Elizabeth II (Olivia Colman), Prince Philip (Tobias Menzies), Princess Margaret (Helena Bonham Carter) and Antony Armstrong-Jones (Ben Daniels).
From these images, fans already got a good idea of how perfectly they’ve been cast and since then, we’ve longed for more.
Finally, after months, new images have been exclusively revealed by Entertainment Weekly and if anyone had a doubt about the casting choices, I’m sure they were thrown out of the window upon seeing the new pictures.
The first picture shows Elizabeth and Philip, presumably in Buckingham Palace, while the Queen does not look too amused. Maybe she had to make another hard decision? Or she was confronted with something tragic? A decision gone wrong?
There are way too many options for the look on her face and one can never quite read the Queen anyway, which makes it even harder to think about what could be going on in the scene of the image.
The second picture shows Margaret and Tony dancing and seemingly having a good time…? Given what the third season has in store for their relationship, it could be that the scene is part of the “calm before the storm” or their expressions are just forced to look happy, after all, they are being watched.
Sadly, we have to wait a while longer until we can finally find out what’s the storyline behind the two images, as there’s still no official release date for season three.
We at 4YE will keep you up to date with all the news regarding the new season of The Crown.
