Pixar has unveiled its cast for its 2020 original film, Onward. They did it in such a way that Marvel and its fans can’t help but be proud.
They let Tom Holland, who will lend his voice to the film, announce the project. Tom Holland, everyone, he’s level of spoiler-king has crossed streams to other Disney owned studios. Bless his little heart.
Holland announced in a video posted to his Instagram.

Onward is a story about “two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there”. It will be directed by Monsters University‘s director Dan Scanlon.
Holland will also be joined by his fellow Marvel actor Chris Pratt. Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) and Octavia Spencer (The Shape Of Water) also join the voice cast for the film.
In a statement, Scanlon shared his excitement about the project, which comes from a personal place for him.
“At Pixar we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth. This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”
During the D-23 Expo in 2017, Scanlon shared more about the plot. The brothers are looking for a way to spend “one last magical day” with their father, who died when they both young.
The word that the two elven brothers inhabit is definitely some suburban fantasy, as Scanlon described.
“There are mushroom houses that line the streets with satellite dishes sticking out the top of them and a minivan parked in front of each one. There are no humans… but there are unicorns everywhere. They’re basically rodents, possums eating all the trash out of your bins.”
At the time, we don’t know who is voicing what. Though, we’ll bet good money that Pratt and Holland will be playing the brothers, definitely Holland anyway. At this point, it’s just speculation.
Onward will hit theatres on March 6th, 2020.
