From 1997 to 2012, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones won over audiences with the Men In Black trilogy. Based on Malibu/Marvel comic series of the same name, the films followed Agent J (Smith) and Agent K (Jones) as they tried to keep alien life on Earth secret and keep the planet safe.
Shenanigans would often ensue.
It was insanely popular and remains a nostalgia point for many people. When a spin-off to the series was announced, fans were tentatively excited. (Men in Black 3, despite a decade long wait, didn’t live up to the hype.)
The announcement that Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson would team up again definitely raised the level of joy. The pair had excellent chemistry in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Plus, you got Liam Neeson as the Head of MiB: UK.
The first trailer for the film, directed by F. Gary Gray, was released. It definitely shows that Hemsworth has amazing comedic timing. His and Thompson’s chemistry cannot be beat, no matter the franchise.
Plus, it’s interesting to see Agent M, beforehand, tracking down the Men in Black herself. Internet sleuths for the win, I guess.
Men in Black International hits theatres June 14th, 2019.
