After providing the Emmys with some much-needed laughter this year, things are looking rather golden for both Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. The pair has been revealed to be the hosts of the 76th Annual Golden Globes awards.
The official announcement was made on Wednesday much to the delight of fans of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor and the Killing Eve actress. An official statement was also released.
“Sandra and Andy are the perfect choices to host this world-class event,” said Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment. “They bring wit, charm and style to a room filled with the very best of film and television. It’s sure to be another unforgettable fun-filled night.”
Added Meher Tatna, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association: “We’re excited to welcome Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg as co-hosts of Hollywood’s Party of the Year. Both Golden Globe Award recipients have continually showcased their talents in film and television, and we can’t wait to see what their undeniable chemistry will bring to the Golden Globes stage.”
The two actors were the perfect choice for the kudocast as they both showed amazing chemistry when they co-presented an award at the Emmys and nailed their scripted banter. This will be Oh’s first time hosting an awards show. As for Samberg, he’s a veteran host. Samberg previously hosted the Emmys back in 2015.
The Golden Globes themselves are set to air on Sunday, Jan. 6, at 8/7c on NBC. As for the nominations, the contenders for this year’s Globes will be revealed on Thursday morning.
