Everything is awesome, at least for this week it is as we have new fun trailer to feast our eyes on, thanks to the Lego Movie.
The sequel to the hit film has finally released the official trailer for the next installment The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. We are in for a bit of a time jump as the film takes place five years after the Master Builders saved their home from President Business. As for who the new villains are in the sequel, they are the LEGO DUPLO alien invaders, which unfortunately starts off the war between brother and sister.
The trailer itself is pretty entertaining as it does provide a lot of insight on what fans can expect. It reveals that as part of the fun this go round, viewers will get to see the Sis-Star System, ruled by Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi who’s voiced by Tiffany Haddish. Emmet, Lucy, Batman, and the rest of the gang must face her forces.
Chris Pratt, who voices Emmet, is on double duty as he is also voicing Rex Dangervest, a galaxy-defending archaeologist, cowboy, and raptor trainer. Sounds like a familiar character, right? It appears The Lego Movie 2 is taking great pleasure in poking a little bit of fun at some of Pratt’s other films. Case in point, instead of having Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with him, Emmet brings his pal Planty, just a potted plant, on a space mission to save Lucy from alien LEGO figures.
Elizabeth Banks (Lucy) Charlie Day (Benny), Alison Brie (Unikitty), and Nick Offerman (Metal Beard) are back along with Pratt for a second time. Joining the vets for the sequel are Stephanie Beatriz (Sweet Mayhem), Arturo Castro (Ice Cream Cone), and Maya Rudolph (in an undisclosed role).
Check out the trailer below!
The wait for this sequel isn’t that long as it will hit theaters on Feb. 8, 2019.
