Swamp Thing Finds Two Stars For Its Dual Sided Anti-Hero

DC Universe has officially found its Swamp Thing along with his human form of Doctor Alec Holland.

So I guess it’s a dual lead?

It was announced today that Derek Mears will play Swamp Thing while Andy Bean will play Alec Holland. Mears is best known for his work on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sleepy Hollow, and Live By Night. Bean has appeared on Power and has a role in the upcoming It: Chapter 2.

Swamp Thing follows Bean’s Holland, who is described as “a biologist who transforms into the Swamp Thing after discovering a strange illness may be connected to his work with the swamp.”

Following his transformation into Mears Swamp Thing, the now transformed Holland must deal with his new state in order to defend his town. Swamp Thing is traditionally known as the avatar of “The Green” which is kind of elemental force which connects all forms of plant life.

Usually, it is Holland’s death which precedes his transformation into the titular character.

Other characters include Will Patton as Avery Sunderland and Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, traditionally the love interest for Holland/Swamp Thing.

Swamp Thing is set to debut sometime in 2019 on DC Universe.
