Well it looks like that we’ve found the latest actor ready to take on the iconic vampiric role of Dracula.
According to Variety, Danish actor Cales Bang will play the titular vampire in an upcoming series from Netflix. The series will come from Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the co-showrunners and executive producers for BBC’s Sherlock. Bang’s previous credits include The Girl in the Spider’s Web and Borgen.
The actor released a statement about his upcoming role.
“I’m so excited that I get to dig in to this iconic and super-interesting character. Yes, he’s evil, but there’s also so much more to him. He’s charismatic, intelligent, witty and sexy. I realize that there’s a lot to live up to with all the amazing people that have played him over the years.”
The series will air on BBC One in the UK and on Netflix in the rest of the world.
It’s unclear if the series will be a modern reinterpretation in the vein of Sherlock. We do know that the first season will consist of three feature-length episodes. It will follow the story by Bram Stoker, in which “the bloodthirsty count plots to travel from Transylvania to wreak havoc in London”.
Currently, there is no release date for the series. What we do now is that production will commence next year.
