Avengers 4 is a project that has more questions surrounding it then not. The finale for the Avengers franchise and the absolute culmination for the Marvel Cinematic Universe at large is still months away from a release.
Seeing as how it is a big film, it makes sense that it would have a big runtime.
During an Instagram Q&A, co-director Joe Russo talked about the current runtime for the movie.
“The running time on Avengers 4 is currently sitting right at three hours. We’ll see if that holds. We’re about halfway through the editing process. We’re really just scratching the surface on our VFX shots. There are more than 3,000 VFX shots in the movie; those require a lot of time and thought and energy and effort, and we’re very early in the phase of getting VFX done. We’ve just started work with Alan Silvestri on the score, and we’re still editing picture at this point.”
Given how much it has to wrap up, we won’t be surprised if the final runtime would be around three hours or two and a half at least.
Russo also teased that stakes will be high in the upcoming film.
“Will the stakes be higher in Avengers 4? Absolutely. 100 percent. The highest of any of the films to date, without question.”
On Wednesday, Marvel dropped a countdown clock for the upcoming film.
Avengers 4 drops on May 3rd, 2019.
