Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
It’s time to come together, eat more than we actually should and to be thankful for all the good things in life. For us, it’s the chance to countdown our four comebacks we are happy for. Beautiful things that we thought would be over but unexpectedly came back to us in the same or a different way than before. And we can’t deny the feeling that we got a lot of great things from the 90’s back in this year.
1. The Wizarding World on the big screen
The Magical World of Harry Potter will always be in our hearts and exist forever in the books, no worries about that. But also it’s quite fun to see all the magic come alive on the big screen by people who really know how to handle special effects. After Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, it was clear that we had to say goodbye to our on-screen heroes and their home, Hogwarts, and the wizarding world. A lot of people couldn’t hold their tears back as Harry, Ron and Hermione send their kids to Hogwarts and all was well. We might have had to say goodbye to Potter, but since the Fantastic Beasts franchise came to life, we got the chance to bring back some magic back on the big screen. The wizarding world and even Hogwarts are the place for more great stories around wizards, muggles, and fantastic beasts.
2. The Spice Girls
Since July 2018, we’ve known that there was something going on. Mel B announced the reunion of the Spice Girls, even though it will be without Beckham, who declined to join due to other commitments. In early November, they announced the Spice World – 2019 UK Tour. At first, there were only 6 dates for their tour but due to high demand, they added about another 7 concerts. It seems like the Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell are still as popular as the 90’s. Their fans are truly loyal and can’t wait to see this iconic girl band back on stage. Girl Power!
3. Backstreet Boys
Backstreet’s back, alright! Yet another band from the 90’s that came back to us. Since March 2017, they have had their own Las Vegas Live Show but now there is hope for all Backstreet Boys fans that didn’t make it to Las Vegas. The Boyband announced their DNA World Tour, their biggest tour in over 20 years! So don’t worry, they will probably visit places that are closer to you than Las Vegas – just check their website for the tour dates. We don’t know what it is with 2018 but it seems like the musical side of the ’90s wants its big comeback with the Spice Girls and the Backstreet Boys going on tour again.
4. Sabrina Spellman
The stories about the teenage witch Sabrina also were rather popular in the ’90s as well. The interest began with the film with Melissa Joan Hart that premiered 1996. The film was based on the comic book series as well as the sitcom that aired from 1996 to 2003, also with Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman. And between 1999 and 2001, Sabrina: The Animated Series aired as well. But that was it. After 2003, we had to wait a long time for new stories from the teenage witch. 2013 started with an animated spin-off called Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch, that cancelled in 2014 after 26 episodes. But the comeback we are really thankful for is for the new Netflix original series. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is by far the darkest adaptation to the comic books so far but it seems like it grew with the fans of Sabrina Spellman. It’s too scary for kids. But the ones who grew up with Sabrina get back a bit of their childhood memories mixed with more elements that are better suitable for adults.
