Supergirl is bringing another major character to our television screens. We are freaking out about it.
Lex Luthor was previously played on television in live action by Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville. Yes, we’re really, really hoping that they bring him back to play the role. C’mon guys. You know you want to.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lex will reappear in a recurring in the latter half of season four. Casting for the part is expected to begin soon. So we’re not going to see him in the “Elseworlds” crossover.
We are here for more Luthor family drama. With Lena (Katie McGrath) in possession of the Harun-El and Lillian (Brenda Strong) behind bars, it will be interesting to see where Lex will come in.
And how this will work. Last we heard of Lex, he was in a special supermax prison and serving out his sentence. He also sent a hitman after his little sister.
Stay classy, Lex.
In a joint statement, co-showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner had this to say.
“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season. We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.”
Fans are already theorizing what his return could mean or how it could effect the season four plot. Could we see President Lex Luthor? Cool as that may be, we’re not feeling it. One supervillain in power is quite enough for us.
Supergirl airs Sundays at 8/7c on the CW.
