Jesse L Martin To Take Medical Leave Of Absence From The Flash

Many fans of The Flash possibly noticed that Jesse L. Martin, who plays Detective Joe West, has not been as active as he usually is in the show. More often than not, he’s seen sitting down or leaning stiffly.

Well, apparently, those eagle-eyed fans had good reason for their concern. While Martin is not ill, he has apparently hurt himself over the hiatus.

As reported by TVLine (and confirmed by Entertainment Weekly), the actor has a back injury that requires him to take a medical leave of absence from the show.

In a statement from the studio, they said, “Jesse Martin is taking a medical leave of absence from The Flash. We wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to his return as Detective Joe West.”

While it’s unknown how long Martin’s medical absence will be for, producers do promise that it will be addressed by the show.

We wish Martin a full recovery and hope that he has a lot of a rest.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on the CW.
