We are almost exactly a month away from our favorite superhero shows returning! After yet another way-too-long summer hell-atus, Arrow returns with season seven this October. But so far we’re actually none the wiser when it comes to plotlines for the upcoming season. Arrow’s new showrunner Beth Schwartz has kept mum with regards to possible spoilers.
Even the most tight-lipped of execs knows fans can’t survive on a short Comic Con teaser alone, so The CW has released first images of the season seven premiere titled “Inmate #4587”. The images show both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) visit Oliver (Stephen Amell) in prison, and especially the latter looks unrecognizable. Felicity dons a wavy, pink mane, rather than her bright blonde locks, and a nasty bruise on her forehead.
The injury makes us wonder whether she had to step up and go up against criminals in the field, now that the team is missing its leader. After revealing himself to be the Green Arrow, Oliver is facing a life in prison, leaving his friends and family have to find a way to cope with that.
While we know the series wouldn’t last with its leading man behind bars, we don’t expect Oliver to magically find a way back to freedom just yet. Felicity, in particular, is clearly feeling the effects of their separation.
“What I found most interesting about what they’re going through this season is that having your husband in prison is really challenging on its own”, teased showrunner Schwartz. “But the fact that your husband is the Green Arrow, and everyone knows your husband is the Green Arrow, is a second challenge that couple will have.”
Still, it seems like Felicity experimental phase won’t last long. TVLine has also released an exclusive first look at episode two of season seven, which shows Felicity, Diggle, Rene, and Curtis in the middle of a mission. Felicity’s hair is back to its signature ponytail, and the woman herself is back to business.
Felicity is strong like that, she’ll bounce back.
Arrow returns with season seven Monday, October 15th at 8/7c on The CW.
