Ever since The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story has aired, the question on the lips of many Darren Criss fans has been “what will he do next?”
The Emmy nominated star has had a fantastic 2018 with his portrayal of spree killer Andrew Cunanan propelling Criss into the public eye, with people talking about his phenomenal performance in the multi Emmy nominated limited series.
Now we know the answer to the question of what will Criss do next. Deadline has reported that the 31-year-old actor has joined World War II drama Midway. The movie which is directed by Independence Day’s Roland Emmerich, tells the story of the Battle of Midway which was a key battle in the US war against the Japanese during World War II.
Midway is written by Wes Tooke, and Criss will join a cast which includes Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, and Nick Jonas (who of course replaced Criss in How To Succeed In Business Without Even Trying on Broadway).
This is great news for Criss who has had limited success with his previous big-screen outings, and it is another outlet for the rest of the world to see what a star the actor is. Of course, the thought of Criss in a uniform is not an unpleasant one
Midway is slated for release on November 9, 2019. In the meantime, Criss is taking his joint tour with Lea Michele back to America’s West Coast with tickets available tomorrow and news of UK and Ireland dates coming next week. And we will all be cheering him on at the Emmy Awards on Monday night.
