The Apocalypse Is Nigh …. The First Teaser For The New Season Of American Horror Story Is Here

Credit: FX

With little over a month to wait until American Horror Story: Apocalypse hits our TV screens, it appears that Ryan Murphy et al are starting to share a little more of what we can expect from the upcoming end of the world.

Over the weekend we received the awesome news that Jessica Lange is returning to the AHS-verse and then we got the news that American Horror Story has been renewed for a tenth season.

Now we have the first of our now annual teasers for the upcoming season which will star American Crime Story star Cody Fern as the now adult Michael Langdon who was of course last seen having murdered his nanny when he was just a toddler.

The teaser which was released earlier today via American Horror Story official twitter account shows us that it appears the whole gamut of the end of the world, all to the soundtrack of “Devil’s Playground” by The Rigs.

Starting with a fetus encased in an hourglass with its umbilical cord filling with dark matter from a burning heart, the teaser descends into classic images of the end of the world, with nuclear explosions, people wearing gas masks with their skin melting off, and the image of a rotten fig being cut open and a black and a white scorpion escaping and battling for survival.  There are of course nods to Coven with the flaming pentagram. The teaser ends with a monstrous hand turning over the hourglass which is now full of skulls rather than the sands of time, which can only mean that the countdown to the end of the world has begun.

As in previous years, the teasers don’t always give us a clear teaser of what exactly will happen but given what we already know, American Horror Story: Apocalypse has the potential to be one of the best seasons in the show’s history.

If other years are anything to go by we can expect a number of new teasers in the upcoming weeks.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse will premiere on September 12 on FX.
