Star Trek: The Next Generation is pretty influential in sci-fi on television. One of the most memorable characters to emerge from the series was Data. Played by Brent Spiner, the character’s journey spanned seven seasons and three movies as the android Data tried to find his own humanity. Considering that was the theme of season three of Supergirl, it seems pretty perfect that he’ll appear on the show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spiner will appear on Supergirl in season four. He will play Vice President Baker, second to Lynda Carter’s President Olivia Marsdin. Details are being kept pretty quiet. Here’s what we know, Baker is described as “adept and politically minded” and a “unlikely leader [who] steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.”
During season two of Supergirl, it was revealed that President Marsdin was an alien. Given how season has cast “human first” characters such as Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer), Mercy Graves (Rhona Mitra), and Otis Graves (Robert Baker).
The show has also cast Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer, TV’s first transgender superhero, April Parker Jones as Colonel Haley, and David Ajala as Manchester Black.
Supergirl returns on Sunday, October 14th at 8/7c on the CW.
