Animated DC Comics Super Pets Movie In The Works At Warner Brothers

The Silver Age of Comics is pretty much universally acknowledged as the time goofy stuff went down. A lot of it is fondly remembered by fans and given tribute in modern day superhero media. (Legends of Tomorrow is essentially one huge Silver Age love letter now.)

One of the more interesting aspects is the concept of the Super Pets. Each hero had their own animal companion. Superman had like five animals ranging from a dog to a horse. For the most part, the concept has been done away with in modern comics. Though Batman has his own menagerie, thanks to Damian Wayne’s love for animals. There’s even a Batcow.

However, the concept has still managed to survive somehow. There has been a number of  one– to two-minute animated shorts that have aired on YouTube. According to Collider, these shorts will be the inspiration behind a full-length animated Super Pets movie.

No word on which super-powered furry (or not) friends will team up in the movie. The script will be penned by The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie writing duo Jared Stern and John Whittington. Stern will also serve as director on the project.

Currently, there’s no release date for the film.
