Another Smallville alum is dropping by Supergirl in its upcoming season.
Sam Witwer, who played Doomsday on season eight of Smallville, has booked a series regular role in Supergirl‘s fourth season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Witwer will be playing DC Comics character Agent Liberty. This version of the character is very much a bad guy and a thorn in Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) side.
The ruthless founder of the Children of Liberty, a hate group that supports a human-first world order. He’s described as a ” brilliant orator in the guise of a family man”. The most terrifying thing about him is that he can convince people that he’s right.
While themes of anti-alien discrimination and hate have been touched on briefly with such plot points as CADMUS and the appearance of an anti-alien politician in season one, it hasn’t been explored too deeply. It also sounds like Supergirl is hoping to take inspiration from real world events to incorporate into the show as it has done previously.
Supergirl returns Sunday, October 14th at 8/7c on the CW.
