Syfy’s Van Helsing took San Diego Comic-Con by storm this past weekend. The cast and crew held the floor at the convention center’s famed Indigo Ballroom and were able to answer some of the audience’s burning questions about what went down during last season. The cast and crew also teased about what lies ahead for the upcoming season and more.
In case you need a quick reminder about the show, Van Helsing is set in the near future, where vampires have risen and taken control. Vanessa Van Helsing, a descendant of Abraham Van Helsing, awakens from a three-year coma after her supposed death to find herself in a post-apocalyptic world. She is humanity’s last hope, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires.
Cast members Kelly Overton (True Blood), Jonathan Scarfe (Hell On Wheels), Vincent Gale (Bates Motel), Aleks Paunovic (Continuum), Rukiya Bernard (The Cabin in the Woods), Trezzo Mahoro (iZombie), and Jennifer Cheon (The 100) were on hand during the panel. Joining them in taking questions from the audience were Neil LaBute, the creator and showrunner, and executive producers Mike Frislev and Chad Oakes.
The cast spent most of the panel teasing one another about some of their off-screen antics and how they managed to persuade the executive producers from offing their characters.
Also shared at the panel was a trailer for the upcoming season, which you can check out below!
Van Helsing’s leading lady Kelly Overton took the time after the panel to chat with us. Check out her interview below!
Van Helsing will return this fall on SyFy.
