SDCC 2018: Nightflyers Trailer Provides A New Look At Syfy’s Adaptation Of George R.R. Martin’s Novella

During their panel at Comic Con, Syfy’s Nightflyers unveiled a brand new trailer. The show is based on George R.R. Martin’s 1980 novella. It follows eight scientists and a telepath who are hoping to make contact with alien life by traveling to the edge of the solar system.

As you might expect, things take a turn for the terrifying during the journey.

Given the success of Game of Thrones, it’s no wonder that Syfy would want to take another Martin property and make it into a TV series of their own. Considering Nightflyers short page count, compared with the massive books in the ongoing A Song of Ice and Fire series, it will be interesting to see how the network keeps the show going for more than one season.

That said, if spooky, space thrillers are your jam, this looks like the show for you. For ASOIAF fans, Nightflyers may help soothe you as you wait an indeterminate amount of time for Martin to finish the book series. Or you may see it as yet another project he’s taken on instead.

As part of their panel and presentation at Comic Con, Nightflyers also showed a personal message from Martin and a behind the scenes video.

Nightflyers stars Eoin Macken (The Night Shift), Sam Strike (EastEnders), Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf), Angus Sampson (Fargo), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship), Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire), David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), and Brían F. O’Byrne (Million Dollar Baby). Buhler, Brian Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Mike Cahill, and George R.R. Martin serve as executive producers.

Nightflyers debuts on Syfy this fall.
