Since November, we have been graced with quite a bit of casting news regarding The Crown’s third season. With the main cast from seasons one and two having been entirely recast, due to the moving forward in time and the characters’ advanced age, Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies have taken over as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip from Claire Foy and Matt Smith, while Helena Bonham Carter will be playing Princess Margaret.
Exciting times certainly lie ahead for all of us, especially because production has finally begun on the third season this month!
In line with that, Netflix has published the first picture of season three on its Twitter page!

In the picture, we get our first look at Olivia Colman as the British monarch, sipping tea and looking not so amused. Or at least very serious.
The caption of the picture is just simply “patience,” which could refer to the scene and the Queen having to have the patience for whatever she is being told or for what is happening in that very moment.
However, it could also very well apply to the audience, as we have to wait probably until next year for season three to drop. After all, it does take some time to film everything and achieve the quality seasons we are used to getting now after seasons one and two were so phenomenal.
Obviously, after getting a first glimpse of the new queen so early on during production, we are hopeful that many more of those teasers are coming our way in the next few months. Hopefully, we will also get a release date soon, so we know until when we have to be so patient.
We will definitely keep you up-to-date on everything The Crown and until then, we will continue to binge seasons one and two.
