Alright Earpers, it’s here! As if getting the cast photos earlier this week wasn’t enough, the season three trailer has dropped! The trailer premiered during the Wynonna Earp panel at the Austin Television Festival (ATX) and was released online shortly after. I’ve already lost track of how many times I’ve watched it trying to make sure I’ve seen everything.
The good news about the trailer is that it definitely feels like the show we all know and love, despite the fact that it takes on a darker tone than we’ve seen in previous seasons. The darker tone carries over from the season two finale which ended with the resurrection of the demon Clootie, something shady happening with Nicole (Kat Barrell) and Dolls (Shamier Anderson), and the last scene reveals that Wynonna may have always known where to find Mama Earp (Megan Follows), who delivers a cryptic warning.
The trailer gives us a lot to look forward to, Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) on a mechanical bull, Wynonna and Nicole (Kat Barrell) getting more scenes together, more Way Haught scenes, Jeremy (Varun Saranga) rocking a Doc Holliday-esque mustache, an introduction to Mama Earp, and a weird dude licking a potato. Okay, that last one is less something I’m looking forward to and more something I just have a lot of questions about.
Season three officially premieres on Friday, July 20th on Syfy, but the lovely folks at Syfy are giving it to us a little early, with a special preview of the full episode on Monday, July 16th after Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. So make sure you set your DVRs for both days (for a lot of rewatches) and get ready for some live tweeting because Earpers need to be tweeting their hearts out both days.
