TCA Awards 2018: Killing Eve And The Assassination of Gianni Versace’s Darren Criss Score Major Nods

Credit: BBC America

Awards season, at least for the television part, is far from over as the Emmys are just around the corner. While those nods have yet to be released, Hollywood still has a lot to rejoice as the Television Critics Association dropped their nominees for this year’s awards on Tuesday.

Leading the pack is BBC America’s Killing Eve with 5 nominations, which is an incredible feat for the network. Giving BBC America a run for their money is FX as several of their shows grab nods, including a favorite here, Darren Criss, for his amazing turn as Andrew Cunanan on The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

TCA President Dan Fienberg, critic for the Hollywood Reporter, had this to say about how diverse the nominees are this year: “The success of shows like ‘Killing Eve’ and ‘The Americans’ and ‘Barry’ all underline what a killer year this was for TV . My sincerest apologies for that pun. It’s an exciting time for television and the TCA Awards nominations show how much great programming there is and how it can be found anywhere and for every audience. We’ve recognized shows from broadcast, cable, premium cable, streaming and PBS, series aimed for the youngest of children, the most mature of adults and for viewing by the entire family. From sexy assassins to brooding spies to babies who are Muppets, I’m excited to see which series will rise to the top when we gather together on August 4.”
