Fans of Spider-Man have long awaited to see Miles Morales to hit the big-screen in some fashion. While we are hoping for a live-action debut of the character, we’re stunned by the gorgeous Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailer.
The trailer certainly promises a new take on the Spider-Man mythos. In a world where Spidey (Jake Johnson) is already an established hero, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is a teenager trying to get through school with minimal mental scarring as possible. When Spider-Man, however, meets Miles and realizes that he also has powers like his, he takes the teen on as protege.
Oh my God, the trailer is totally gorgeous. It looks like pages of a comic brought to life. Some shots almost took our breath away.
The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Woman/Gwen Stacy, Liev Schreiber as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin, Mahershala Ali as Miles’ uncle Aaron Davis, Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’ father Jefferson, Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mother Rio, and Lily Tomlin as Aunt May.
Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman directed the film from a script by Phil Lord, who co-produced the project with partner, Chris Miller.
Miller and Lord said in a statement, “We are lucky to have such an amazing cast of funny, genuine creative souls to populate the Spider-verse. They have generous minds and great big hearts. And they have very talented throats. Which is where their delightful voices come from. We can’t wait for the world to see Miles Morales on the big screen. He’s such a fun and exciting new character, and telling his story through a revolutionary visual style makes for a totally fresh cinematic experience that, if we may say so, is freaking amazing.”
